Alfredo Maestro

Alfredo Maestro, a Spanish winemaker from Castilla y León, began his journey in 1998 in a family garage, driven by a deep passion for nature and winemaking. After outgrowing the garage, he gained international recognition in 2010, marking the start of his global career.

He works in 3 different areas:

- Duero, D.O. Ribera del Duero. Also in bordering areas influenced by tributaries of the Duero, like Duratón, Botijas and Esgueva rivers.
- Gredos, exclusively in the villages of Navarredondilla and San Juan de Molinillo, in the province of Avila. They are all old vineyards at an altitude of over 1,000 meters above sea level.
- Cigales, A Parcel wine (Sobrecasa) and a single varietal Garnacha Gris (La Badi) are produced.

Alfredo’s winemaking philosophy emphasizes learning from nature and employing biodynamic practices, fostering a respectful and harmonious relationship with the environment. In Peñafiel, you can find his multifunctional winery, 'la pequeña bodega multiusos de Alfredo', where he blends modern and traditional winemaking methods. The winery uses a variety of vessels, including steel, French oak, chestnut wood, large barrels, sherry casks, clay jars, and ovoid concrete tanks, merging new techniques with ancestral production methods.
