Valdeorras — Spain

La Perdida, nestled in the heart of Galicia, Spain, is a testament to the passion and dedication of its founder, Nacho González. A biologist by training, he turned to winemaking when his grandmother gave him an old forgotten vineyard site named “O Trancado.” Nacho brought it back to life from total neglect, through good farming practices and a desire to save the old vines rather than rip them up and replant.

Established in 2012, La Perdida produces natural wines from grapes grown in isolated and often forgotten vineyards. With a deep respect for tradition, Nacho rehabilitates these neglected vineyards, bringing them back to life through organic farming practices. His vineyards, situated on granite and clay soils, yield grapes that are meticulously aged in tinajas (amphorae) and ancient oak barrels, allowing the wines to develop a distinct character.

Nacho’s innovative approach, combined with his commitment to sustainable viticulture, produces wines that capture the essence of Galicia's rich winemaking heritage. La Perdida’s wines not only reflect the unique terroir of the region but also tell the story of a winemaker dedicated to preserving the legacy of old vines and natural winemaking.
